Together with the economic development of the PRC, the concept of the public safety of this country is being evolving. This reveals both: the changing reality of the international environment and threats to the safety of the continued development, which gives an impulse for modernization of the People’s Liberation Army and redefinition of the strategy of defence. This work constitutes an attempt to characterize changes that have place in the Chinese security space that is inspired by political decisions of the Communist Party of China and that affects the potential of the PLA, its resources development strategy and concentration on appropriate direction of influence, especially in the region of Eastern Asia that limits the safety of shipment by the sea, export of products of the Chinese economy and access to natural resources for the Middle Kingdom.
